This is a start of a series of “Mentor Mondays” ! Instead of heading on the usual photo adventure on a Monday , a small group of members sign up for a workshop, to specialise in a specific topic in a practical scenario with help and advice from another club member with a bit of expertise in the area. The idea of the smaller groups is so that any tips or techniques can be shared, and that some one-to-one time can be spent with each photographer.
We hope to be able to offer studio workshops, nature workshops, street shooting and other areas where people have expressed interest.
So.. this will be kicking off on Monday 7th July, when Merv Colton will take a group of no more than 6 to photograph sports. This will be done for 3 Mondays in a row, so there should be an opportunity for quite a few membrs to benefit.
The sports sessions will go as follows:

1. General run through recommended settings, and why they are important. Hopefully explain the logic behind choosing these settings so that you can decide on our own settings for other sports.
2. Camera technique – how to shoot sports.
3. Sport specifics – where to shoot from, how to deal with light etc.
4. Shooting! We’ll have some tennis players lined up to perform for us.
5. Review of images on a laptop, discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each image.
6. Shoot some more.
First six people to email Merv will start the wprkshop this Monday, the next six will be registered for the week after, and so on. Registers asap with Mervyn.Colton@quest.ie
Everyone else .. we meet as usual at Castletown gates at 7.30pm and the destination will be agreed.

Celbridge Camera Club Annual General meeting will be held tonight Monday 26th May 2008 at 8 pm in the Slip Hall.
Members are expected to attend as decisions regarding the future of the club are made at this meeting as well as the election of a committee to run the club for the coming year.
Our annual exhibition was a great success and thanks to all who played a part in making it happen. A very hard working dedicated team framed, erected stands, set up monitors/laptops, placed signs on incoming roads and hung pictures all day Friday. Well done and thank you to all so so much.
The official opening was done by Emmet Stagg TD and we had a lovely food and drinks reception provided by Deirdre Byrne and Trish Melvin.
All our winners were presented with their medals/Certificates and it was a very enjoyable night all round. Thanks to all who attended and contributed. Check out local press (Liffey Champion) for photos and write up.
All exhibition images must be taken back tonight. Your entry fee covers the cost of one frame, if you wish to purchase the frames in which your other images were displayed they can be bought for €7.50. We have no storage facilities in the slip hall so uncollected images will be disposed of and frames sold on to those who want them for €7.50 tonight. It seems harsh but we have no alternative.
Monday night outings will commence next week meeting at 7.20 at Castletown Gates (venue to be decided on the night at the gates)
Thank you all for all your help and support throughout the year, it meant a lot.
Regards
Edel
