What are Distinctions?
Photographic distinctions are lettered awards made to individual members of clubs in recognition of having achieved a proscribed level of competency in photography.
In Ireland distinctions are awarded by the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) and by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
The IPF issue three distinctions; the Licentiateship (LIPF), the Associateship (AIPF) and the Fellowship (FIPF). You must be a member, in good standing, of an IPF affiliated club in order to apply for an IPF distinction.
FIAP issue two main distinctions, the Artist FIAP (AFIAP) and the Excellence FIAP (EFIAP). You must first hold a FIAP registration card and must be a member, in good standing, of an IPF affiliated club.
The club runs regular distinction workshops hosted by Mark Sedgwick FIPF EFIAP for those interested in achieving same. Contact Mark at mark@celbridgecameraclub.net or see him on a club night if you are interested or have questions related to distinctions.
