6th September Barbeque Update

We are going ahead with the bbq tonight – eating inside and cooking under cover but having a table quiz instead of a treasure hunt.
Hope to see you later.

Celbridge Images

Celbridge Community Council is in the process of updating their web page and has asked if any of our members have recent or old images of Celbridge and surrounds which they are willing to let them use.

If you have any such images please e-mail them to Carmel Hughes at carmelhughes3@gmail.com.

Many thanks.

Call for images!

You will all see from the calendar and from Christine’s posts that this year we are entering the local IPF region inter-club competition.

The first round is mid-November so we need to start collecting images for the Selection Committee to consider for inclusion in our entry – we need as many as we can get both colour and mono so start looking them out now.

In addition, the National Shield is usually around mid-November so all you “non-advanced” members should start looking out images for the selection committee to consider  for this – again both colour and mono.  Remember that the IPF deems non-advanced photographers to be those that have not achieved an IPF accreditation (A or F) or FIAP equivalent, or have not won an IPF gold medal in previous competitions.

Images for both competitions can be sent to me at gordonadamson@eircom.net with a note to say whether they are for inter-club competition or National Shield or both.  If your image is chosen for either competition we will need to print it so please keep the original high resolution .psd or .tiff version.

Introduction to Club Life and Buy and Sell Monday 20th September

Monday 20th September we are holding an introduction to club life evening.  This will include details of meetings, social events, outings, how to enter competitions, IPF and distinctions etc.

We also intend to have a buy and sell table on the night.  If you have any gear you would like to get rid of now is your opportunity.  You have a couple of weeks notice to root out any bags, filters, cameras, printers in fact anything you could live without.  Check out the condition, give it a scrub up if necessary and think about what price you would like to charge.  Lola will be available on the night to label the items with your name, price and any other relevant details.

Monday 6th September Photo Treasure Hunt and Barbeque

Our first meeting back this season is going to be a social event with a photo treasure hunt followed by barbeque.  We will start at 8pm as usual in the Slip Hall.

The plan is to form randomly assigned teams of 4 or 5 to go out into Celbridge and solve a photo treasure hunt. The “treasures” will be photos of the locations so bring a camera – point and click or camera phone will be fine as we are not looking at the quality of the shots just if they are right or wrong.

After that there will be a barbeque and an opportunity to mix, chat and get to know each other as well as catch up on the events of the summer.

Soft drinks will be provided but please bring your own wine and beer.

We hope as many as possible will take part as it would be great to see all members old and new.  If you will be there on the night please let me know at christine.taylor@iol.ie or reply to Cyrus’ invitation on Facebook so we have a rough idea of numbers.  If you have not yet joined Celbridge Camera Club’s Facebook page please consider doing so by clicking on the link which can be found on the “New Members” information page.

Start time will be 8pm and no doubt a few members will head up to the Celbridge House after the meeting – everyone is welcome to join in.

Monday 30th August

This Monday is our last outing of the summer and as the light is failing fast we are going to stay local this week. We will meet as usual at 7.30 at Castletown Gates and walk by the river and up to Castletown house. This means we will have more time in the pub for the social side of the club!
